The Federal Government is ready to arraign suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele and his accomplices for N6.9 billion procurement fraud.
According to Premium Times, Emefiele will be arraigned before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, on Thursday, August 17, 2023. The case has been scheduled for arraignment and mention.
Emefiele will be charged with 20 counts of procurement fraud, conspiracy, and bestowing improper favors on his accomplices, together with a female CBN employee, Sa’adatu Yaro, and her company, April 1616 Investment Limited.
The embattled CBN governor had been detained since President Bola Tinubu suspended him from office on June 9. He was charged with corruptly benefiting Yaro, a director of April 1616 Investment Ltd, which is a violation of Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act of 2000.
