Despite efforts from all three levels of government, Vice President Kashim Shettima says Nigeria needs N21 trillion to build 28 million dwellings to overcome the country’s housing shortage.
The vice-president made the remarks on Sunday in Sokoto, during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sokoto government’s 500-unit housing estate.
Mr Shettima, who praised Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his efforts to meet his people’s housing needs, highlighted that Nigeria’s housing shortfall remained a major concern.
“Nigeria has a 28-million-house deficit, and we will need N21 trillion to meet our housing needs.” The governor’s action is exceedingly praiseworthy and should be emulated by other state governments.
“The governor has made a good start by completing the roads and flyovers that he inherited,” said Mr Shettima.
