This morning, Friday, September 22, 2023, an unknown number of students from the Federal University of Gusau were abducted.
Nazeer Sabon-Gida, a resident of Sabon-Gida, informed newsmen that the gunmen broke into the neighborhood at 3 a.m. and began firing randomly.
He claimed that three student residences were raided, and the bandits abducted every student inside.
He claimed that they arrived in the town at around 3 am and immediately began firing randomly.
“Because the bandits broke into three hostels and abducted every student inside, we are still unsure of the exact number of students who were taken.” Right now, it’s difficult to estimate their numbers.
Another eyewitness said to the media (Not Nigerian Tribune) that after a fierce gunfight between the robbers and Nigerian Army soldiers, the bandits managed to escape with the abducted victims.
“They were seriously engaged with the army troops, but the way these bandits work, they will divide themselves into two groups, one of which will move with the kidnapped victims and the other of which will remain behind to protect the first group,” he said.
“The second group engaged the army in a gun duel while the first group had left with the students.”
Three months ago, some college students protested the rise in kidnappings in Sabon-Gida and Damba.
More information is coming.
