The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed a suspected bandit attack that happened on Monday in the Soro community of the state’s Binji Local Government Area and resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries to others.
While verifying the attack, ASP Ahmad Rufai of the state police said that some gunmen who were likely bandits attacked the Soro community. However, men of the command quickly rushed in and effectively repulsed the attack with the assistance of military operators.
But according to the police spokesman, the robbers set some homes on fire out of impatience, which resulted in the deaths of three inhabitants and varying degrees of injuries for a few more.

A local hunter told our journalist that “eight people, mostly women, were abducted and carried away on motorcycle by the bandits.”
According to some community members who spoke about the incident, some vigilante groups that attacked a Fulani community in retaliation caused a situation that required the police commissioner, Ali Kaigama, to intervene and start a dialogue among the locals of the affected areas.
