Nigeria the three-time African champions were the superior team in Portugal, cruising to a comfortable victory over the East Africans.

Frank Onyeka scored his first goal for Nigeria as the Super Eagles defeated Mozambique 3-2 in an international friendly on Monday evening at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira.

The Super Eagles were taken aback by the early goal, but they rallied swiftly as Terem Moffi equalized in the 19th minute. The OGC Nice forward was the first to react to rebound after the goalkeeper dropped shot, slamming home from close range.

Dele-Bashiru made his Super Eagles debut with an assistsetting up Onyeka to make it 2-1 for Nigeria.

The Super added third goal in the final minutes of the half when Moses Simon scored from the penalty spot after the referee handed Nigeria penalty. Another lapse of concentration at the opening of the second half allowed Faisal Bangal to break in and score the second goal for Mozambique.

Nonetheless, the Super Eagles were the dominant team, particularly in attack, when Nigeria had multiple opportunities to expand their lead.

Substitute Umar Sadiq scored in the 70th minute, but it was ruled out for offside. Alex Iwobi also missed a shot midway through the second session, and Victor Boniface missed another.

Despite the missed opportunities, the Super Eagles were excellent to earn the win their fourth in five games and a return to winning ways.
