The December salary of some civil servants in the Federal Government may be affected, as approximately 5,000 individuals have discrepancies in their dates of first appointment and dates of birth. The National President of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Tommy Okon, confirmed this issue.

The union is actively collaborating with the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to resolve the matter. They have already provided the names of the affected workers to their respective, Okon mentioned that 2,772 workers have successfully been restored to the Federal Government payroll after completing the necessary online and physical verification processes.

Okon emphasized the importance of swift action by the Federal Government to prevent any delays in the December salary of the civil servants who are currently undergoing various exercises for reintegrating into the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System.

While addressing the press, Okon urged affected members of the ASCSN to remain patient, assuring them that the union is working within the confines of the law to resolve the issues promptly.

Furthermore, Okon shared that the physical verification exercise for the 17,000 core civil servants who were delisted from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System was concluded in October 2023. These individuals were eagerly awaiting the restoration of their monthly salary, which has been withheld since September 2023.

As of now, only those who had previously completed their verification process but were mistakenly delisted have had their salaries restored. However, the salary restoration for the remaining 5,000 civil servants with discrepancies in their records is pending confirmation by their Directors of Human Resources.

Okon mentioned that six teams are diligently working to ensure the completion of the exercise within the prescribed timeline. He advised public servants to regularly check the website of the Head of the Civil Service for updates on the matter.

While the salary for November 2023 has already been concluded and those affected will not receive it, efforts are being made by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to ensure that those cleared will receive their December salary, including any arrears dating back to September.

The union appeals to the Federal Government, specifically through the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, to expedite action to prevent any delays in the payment of December salaries.
