The Sokoto State Government authorized the procurement of N1.1 billion worth of automobiles for the governor’s office on Wednesday.
The permission was a component of other N19 billion contracts that were given out.
At the conclusion of the weekly cabinet meeting, Alhaji Bello Danchadi, the commissioner of information, informed reporters in Sokoto that the contracts were a fulfillment of the governor’s campaign pledges.
According to him, the cabinet also authorized the N8.9 billion building of 47 cluster roads in the Tudun Wada and Unguwar Rogo neighborhoods of Sokoto city.
According to him, contracts worth N2.1 billion and N816.2 million, respectively, were given for the building and repair of township roads in the Runjin Sambo region and Bidinga Road.
The commissioner went on to say that further contracts worth over N800 million were given out for the rehabilitation of the Tsohuwar Kasuwa, Kalambaina, Roul-Mairuwa, and Lodge and Force Avenue Roads.
According to Danchadi, a N2.2 billion contract was given for the development of the Gande-Silame rural route.
He said that 44 roads in Sokoto city will have solar-powered streetlights installed, at an additional cost of N1.9 billion.
The commissioner said that the business had been remobilized to the building site and that the cabinet had overturned the previous administration’s revocation decision regarding the Gidan Salanke Housing Estate.
