A suspected human trafficker named Khadija Shehu-Manzo was detained by police in Gombe State. She is accused of selling a b@by for N400,000.
According to ASP Mahid Abubakar, a spokesman for the command, the suspect and 15 other people involved in the illegal act were taken into custody.
The spokesperson disclosed that Shehu-Manzo conspired with 15 other people, including an employee of Gombe Local Government Area, to carry out the crime last weekend while presenting the suspects on Wednesday, January 10. He added that an intelligence report from the Barunde community led to the arrest of the suspects.
The community asserted that at some point in the previous year, Khadija Shehu-Manzo and fifteen other individuals were involved in distributing infants to underprivileged individuals.
Detectives from the low-cost division acted quickly upon receiving the report, conducting a thorough investigation that resulted in the arrest of the aforementioned Khadija.
