Following the Supreme Court’s ruling, which upheld his election victory, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf returned to the state from Abuja.
When Governor Yusuf arrived back in Kano State on Sunday, a sizable contingent of admirers turned out to greet him and join in celebrating the legal triumph.
On Sunday, when the governor returned to Kano, the people flocked to the streets and took up nearly every available space, joining him in a march through the state in his convoy.
Governor Yusuf thanked the people of Kano on his X platform account on Monday, responding to the large crowd that had greeted him.
He claimed he would remember the crowd’s warmth and camaraderie for a very long time.
He also pledged to work for the decent people of the state in order to earn back the trust that the people had placed in him.
“The resounding love and long march of solidarity that greeted my arrival in Kano yesterday, after Friday’s Supreme Court verdict is one that will reverberate across many years.
“As I stated, this serves as a great reminder about the task before us of repaying the confidence that the good people of Kano have in our leadership. We shall not take it for granted.” Governor Yusuf wrote.
