AFTER TWO FATALITIES, RIVERS POLICE DETAIN A SUSPECTED CULTIST.

The Rivers State Police Command has taken into custody 25-year-old Samuel Nwokoma, a well-known cultist.

His involvement in a succession of murders and armed robberies in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt and other areas of Rivers State has been linked to credible intelligence, which led to the arrest.

The police’s C4i Strike Force and neighborhood vigilante groups worked together to make the operation possible, according to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, on Tuesday.

In a string of violent incidents from March 14 to March 17, 2024, two people, Ede Sunday, 32, and George Johnson, 28, died, according to the police, at the hands of Nwokoma and his group.

“Nwokoma has been identified as being involved in a series of cult-related killings within the Diobu axis of Port Harcourt,” Iringe-Koko’s statement revealed.

Nwokoma detailed the brutal methods used by the gang in his confession to the police, admitting that he had a direct hand in Sunday’s and Johnson’s deaths.

Johnson was shot in the chest and died from his wounds even though he received emergency medical assistance, highlighting the deadly effects of the gang’s acts.

After the arrest, police tracked down the gang’s hiding place at Ogwu Waterside in Diobu, Port Harcourt, where they discovered an important discovery.

The authorities found a sizable cache of weapons and ammunition, including three AK-47 rifles, an assault rifle, numerous magazines, and a significant amount of live ammo, even though some gang members had left the area.

IEDs, detonating wires, and charms are among the other materials found, demonstrating the gang’s readiness for violent activities.
