THREE UNI STUDENTS PERISH IN A STAMPEDE WHILE THE GOVERNMENT OF NASARAWA DISTRIBUTES RICE

According to reports, the state government distributed rice palliative on Friday, causing a stampede that claimed the lives of three NSUK students.
The incident took place at Keffi’s convocation square, where the rice sacks were being held until state governor Abdullahi Sule arrived to start distributing them.

But a rush broke out when the throng of students eager to access the square overwhelmed the guards and forced their way past the barrier.

Speaking with journalists, eyewitness Moses Ajah characterized the occurrence as regrettable.

He claimed that even though the governor had not yet shown up to officially kick off the distribution, some students had grabbed bags of rice and hurried to their dorms and other housing.

He said, “Some of the students were struggling with the police over the rice, and as more students got information, the situation degenerated.

“As we speak some students are injured and receiving treatment at the school.”

According to Daily Post, Police officers have begun retrieving the palliatives from students.

Meanwhile, the University’s Protocol Officer, Abraham Ekpo, confirmed the incident and promised to give details later.
