Babatunji Wusu –

Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans, a convicted kidnapper, and his co-defendant Joseph Emeka, a murder suspect, are requesting a plea deal.

The lead prosecutor, Yusuf Sule, brought up the plea bargain option in front of Justice Adenike Cokers of the Lagos High High Court in Ikeja.

This occurred on Thursday, the day of the case’s re-arraignment.

Evans and Emeka were scheduled to be re-arrested on a five-count amended accusation that included attempted murder, murder, and conspiracy to conduct a felony, including kidnapping and attempted murder.

Sule did, however, inform the court that he was aware of the defendants’ plea bargain application.

However, he noted that Mr. Lawal Pedro, the Attorney General of Lagos State, was taking the terms of the plea agreement into consideration.

Evans was found guilty of abduction in 2022 and is presently receiving a life sentence.
