Babatunji Wusu –
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president in 2023, has paid a visit to the victims of a bombing at a mosque in Gadan village, located in the Gezawa Local Government area of Kano State.
Obi denounced the attack and called it a stupid act when he paid the victims a visit on Sunday while they were in the Murtala Specialist Hospital in Kano.
Speaking with reporters, Obi expressed how terrible it was to witness the victims and how awful it is that such an incident can occur in this country.
According to Obi, he went to see the victims to express gratitude to the hospital administration and to show support for them in whatever manner.
He said: “This is very horrific and remains very condemnable. It’s sad this can happen in our nation today. Nobody can say why this young boy can do a thing like this to his own family members and the society.
“We remain in solidarity condemning such act at the people. My reason for coming here is to show that solidarity and support in their care in one way or the other and the hospital management in what they are doing and again condemn this senseless act of violent killing.
“We therefore condoled with the government and the good people of Kano as well urged all as a country to stand together in fighting such a senseless act.”
Speaking at the same time, Dr. Husseini Muhammad, the Chief Medical Director, stated that of the 23 casualties admitted to the hospital, 15 had died and the remaining eight were undergoing medical care.
Muhammad expressed gratitude to the former governor of Anambra State for the visit, stating that it represents the nation’s togetherness and oneness.
He said that one patient was in serious condition in the hospital’s Mother ICU, and the other seven patients were seen in Surgical Ward C.
