Tragic news struck Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) as Professor Yusuf Saidu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research, Innovation, and Development, fell victim to bandit violence. According to a statement released by the university on Monday, June 24, Professor Saidu was attacked and fatally injured while traveling from Sokoto to Kaduna.

The university mourned the loss of Professor Saidu, highlighting his exceptional qualities of integrity, religious devotion, dedication, and courage. In their statement, UDUS expressed profound sorrow over his untimely demise, describing it as a significant loss to the entire university community and the academic world.

“We pray that Allah accepts his soul and grants him forgiveness,” the statement concluded, reflecting the deep grief and shock felt by all who knew and worked with Professor Yusuf Saidu.
