At the ongoing National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, held in the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, notable figures such as Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Dangote Foundation, and Bill Gates are in attendance. Vice President Kashim Shettima is presiding over the session.
The meeting is also being attended by several governors including Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Duoye Diri of Bayelsa, Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, and Lawan Dauda of Zamfara. In addition, deputy governors, various ministers, and state commissioners are present.
The agenda focuses on a comprehensive review of the nation’s economic policies and the recent increase in fuel prices.
In related news, Bill Gates, Co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, shed light on why Nigeria receives the largest share of the foundation’s intervention funds in Africa. During an interview with select journalists at the 2024 NutriVision Dialogue in Abuja, Gates highlighted that the foundation’s substantial investment in Nigeria is driven by the country’s large population and significant needs.
