Peter Afunanya, the Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications at the Department of State Services (DSS) National Headquarters in Abuja, has been reassigned. He announced his redeployment during a press briefing on Wednesday, September 4, though he did not reveal his new role.

Afunanya expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the DSS spokesperson over the past decade. He reaffirmed his commitment to the agency and to Nigeria, promising to continue contributing with “love, loyalty, honor, and glory” in his new position.

This change follows the recent appointment of Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi as the new Director General of the DSS. Upon taking office, Ajayi pledged to restore the agency’s focus on its core principles of covert operations and strategic silence, while also tackling Nigeria’s urgent economic, political, and security issues.
