The Federal High Court (FHC) in Lagos has made a significant leap into the digital age with the launch of a new online platform that allows the public to obtain affidavits directly from the court. This initiative, led by FHC Chief Judge Justice John Tsoho, brings the court in line with global digital best practices.

During a visit to the Lagos division on Friday, Deputy Chief Registrar Godwin Long provided a tour of the newly established ICT department, which is overseen by Agwu Charles. Agwu demonstrated how the public can access and use this new system.

“It’s now possible to complete affidavits for various purposes—such as loss of items, age declaration, and change of name—through our new platform at portal.fhc.gov.ng,” Agwu explained. “Simply log in to the site and follow the instructions provided.”

However, Deputy Chief Registrar Long clarified that the portal currently processes only non-case-related affidavits. Affidavits that support ongoing cases still require manual processing due to their specific requirements. He emphasized that, moving forward, individuals will no longer need to be physically present to obtain these types of affidavits, making the process more accessible and efficient.
