Queen, the mother of Nigerian artist Darlington Okoye, better known as Speed Darlington, has made a heartfelt appeal to Grammy-winning musician Burna Boy for her son’s release, following reports of his disappearance. This situation has emerged in the wake of a controversial online video that Darlington shared about Burna Boy.
In a tearful Instagram video, Queen introduced herself as Darlington’s mother and claimed that Burna Boy and his team visited her son’s home and took him away, based on information from Darlington’s security personnel. “Good day everyone, I am Mrs. Queen, the mother of Darlington, also known as Speed Darlington. I have been informed that my son is missing. His gateman alerted our family that Burna Boy came with his team and took Darlington from our home. Please, Darlington is my only son, my only child,” she stated, her distress evident.
Queen continued her emotional plea, urging Nigerians and Darlington’s fans to help mediate the situation. She emphasized her heartbreak, stating that Darlington is her sole child and that the incident has left her with no choice but to seek mercy. “All Darlington’s fans should help to beg Burna Boy. Burna Boy, please temper justice with mercy. Forgive Darlington. This is me, Darlington’s biological mother, begging. I don’t know what else to say other than to ask for forgiveness.”
She further implored Burna Boy, saying, “I am a mother, a grandmother. He is my only son, please forgive him. I am just asking for forgiveness. Burna Boy, please, I am on my knees.”
Additionally, lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju confirmed that Speed Darlington is currently in police custody in Abuja. According to Adeyanju, he was detained in Lagos and subsequently transferred to Abuja following a complaint from Burna Boy, although further details remain unclear.
