“Amaechi Expresses Anger Over Nigerians’ Silence Amid Hardship: ‘Why Aren’t You Protesting?'”

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has expressed frustration with Nigerians for their passive response to the worsening economic situation in the country. In a recent interview with ABN TV, he criticized the rising cost of living, including fuel and food price hikes, which have significantly diminished the purchasing power of millions.

Amaechi emphasized that if he is struggling to afford diesel, it’s likely that the average Nigerian is facing even greater hardships. He urged citizens to take to the streets in protest against politicians for their handling of the economic crisis.

“I’m angry with the citizens. You can see a group of people stealing your money, impoverishing you. The people should be angry. There should be protests—not just against anyone in particular, but against the politicians,” he stated.

He lamented the dire state of hunger in the country, suggesting that if individuals like him are finding it hard to cope, it’s even tougher for those with fewer resources. “Somebody said what this government has achieved is that it has made Nigerians strong in the sense that they now trek,” he noted.

Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, urged for a more vocal and active citizenry to hold leaders accountable for their economic mismanagement.
