The House of Representatives has moved forward a bill mandating that specific portfolios accompany the nomination lists for Ministers and Commissioners, progressing it to its second reading. Representative Okechukwu Dibiagwu, leading the debate, argued that assigning portfolios to nominees would enable lawmakers to conduct a more precise review during confirmation.
Additionally, the House advanced a separate bill aimed at extending the retirement age for health workers in Nigeria, which could help retain skilled personnel in the healthcare system longer.
The Nigerian Television Authority posted updates on Friday, confirming both bills have reached this crucial legislative stage.
