Donald Trump claimed victory on Wednesday and pledged to “help our country heal” as results placed him on the brink of defeating Kamala Harris for a historic White House comeback. Speaking at his Florida campaign headquarters, surrounded by cheering supporters and family, Trump called it “a political victory that our country has never seen before.”
Although Fox News was the only major network to declare him the winner, Trump led in key states such as Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina, with the Republican Party also gaining control of the Senate by flipping two seats. Cedric Richmond, Harris’s campaign co-chair, urged supporters to “wait for tomorrow” as a somber mood settled over Harris’s watch party in Washington.
The results sparked a positive response in financial markets as the U.S. dollar surged and Bitcoin reached a record high. World leaders remain on edge, bracing for the return of Trump’s nationalist policies and foreign stance.
