Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo addressed Nigeria’s airline industry challenges on Wednesday, acknowledging the financial pressures on airline operations. He expressed the ministry’s dedication to creating policies that foster a supportive environment for investment, infrastructure, and workforce training to boost the aviation sector.

Speaking at a National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) event in Abuja, Keyamo, represented by Permanent Secretary Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, stated: “Rather than viewing these challenges as adversarial, unions and management should adopt a problem-solving mindset to prevent layoffs and closures.” He emphasized collaborative approaches like flexible work arrangements and revenue-sharing to protect jobs and enhance industry resilience.

NAAPE President Galadima Abednego underscored the importance of “social dialogue,” advocating for strong management-union relations to increase productivity and sustain profits through constructive communication.
