**CJN Justice Kekere-Ekun Emphasizes Integrity and Accountability in Nigerian Judiciary**
The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has highlighted the excellence and dedication of many Nigerian judges but expressed concern over a few individuals who are tarnishing the reputation of the judiciary. Speaking at an event in Lagos on Saturday, November 9, 2024, where she served as the Chairperson, Justice Kekere-Ekun commended the hard work, knowledge, and courage of the majority of judges but acknowledged that the actions of a small number of individuals have raised concerns.
She took the opportunity to remind judges of their individual responsibility, urging them to remain accountable both to themselves and to God. The CJN emphasized that the public’s trust in the law depends on its adherence to core principles, such as clarity, stability, and the independence of the judiciary. Additionally, she underscored the importance of fair and impartial law enforcement in maintaining this trust.
Justice Kekere-Ekun’s remarks reflect her commitment to ensuring that Nigeria’s judiciary upholds its integrity and remains a pillar of justice for the country.
