Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze were among the first to arrive at the Super Eagles camp in Abidjan on Monday, kicking off their preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Benin Republic. Alongside Simon and Chukwueze, six other players, including Amas Obasogie and Raphael Onyedika, also joined the camp, according to the Super Eagles Media Officer.
Captain William Ekong, Victor Osimhen, and 19 other players have been called up for the double-header qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda. The Super Eagles aim to secure a spot in the 2025 tournament with a win or draw against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic on Thursday at Stade Felix-Houphouet-Boigny.
With seven goals scored and none conceded in their campaign so far, Nigeria currently leads Group D and is in a strong position to qualify, needing only one point to secure their spot. After Thursday’s game, the team will travel to Uyo to face Rwanda’s Amavubi on Monday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium for the final qualifier.
