The National Assembly has refuted claims circulating on social media that President Bola Tinubu will present the 2025 budget to a joint session on Wednesday. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Dr. Ali Umoru, the Secretary of Research and Information at the National Assembly, labeled the reports as false and urged the public to disregard the misinformation.
Umoru emphasized that the legislative body has yet to approve the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP), which must be completed before any national budget presentation can occur.
The statement also warned against spreading unverified information and reiterated the importance of relying on authorized official channels for communications related to the National Assembly.
This clarification comes as Nigerians await the formal presentation of the 2025 budget, which is expected to outline the government’s fiscal strategy and economic priorities for the year. On Monday, the Senate Committee on Finance held a meeting with various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to finalize work on the MTEF/FSP.
