Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has emphasized that Africa’s largest street party, Carnival Calabar, is a vital platform for driving economic, social, and cultural prosperity for both the state and Nigeria. Otu made this statement on Saturday while launching the 2024 Carnival Calabar at Millennium Park in Calabar.
Speaking on the theme “Our Shared Prosperity,” Otu highlighted that this year’s carnival has a global appeal, with attendees from various continents. He stressed the importance of integrating economic, social, and cultural growth into the event for the benefit of the people.
Otu expressed pride in celebrating nearly two decades of Carnival Calabar, commending the leadership of former governors, especially Donald Duke, for their enduring commitment to the event’s success.
