As the outcry over the demolition of homes belonging to Nigerians in the Diaspora at Winhomes Estate in Okun Ajah intensifies, affected i have petitioned Presiden Bola Tinubu urging him to direct the Minister of Works to revert to the 2006 gazetted alignment.
The investors insist that they conducted proper due diligence before purchasing their properties, ensuring compliance with all legal procedures, including obtaining Governor’s Consent and approval for the coastal road.
The controversy surrounding the demolitions has also been fueled by misinformation, including claims about the presence of a marine cable in the Okun Ajah area. The investors contend that the cable is located far from the designated coastal path, further complicating the issue.
In response to the growing concerns, the CEO of Winhomes has issued a statement addressing the alleged encroachment on the estate and clarifying the management of Nigerian Diaspora investments.
The CEO also responded to comments made by the Minister of Works, calling for urgent intervention to correct what they describe as an injustice to the investors.
