Senior workers under the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) have called off their planned three-day warning strike after a constructive meeting with government representatives, including the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammad Maigari Dangyadi. The discussions, which also involved key stakeholders such as the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the Federal Ministry of Education, led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The contentious issues that led to the strike notice—including career progression to CONTEDISS 15, the BSc./HND dichotomy, and the usurpation of non-teaching staff positions by teaching staff—were addressed. The government, through the MoU, committed to resolving these matters. SSANIP acknowledged the legitimacy of its demands and suspended the warning strike, urging members to stay united as they monitor the implementation of the agreed measures. The union expressed its appreciation for the solidarity and patience shown by its members during the negotiations.
