- Says Nigeria has become a national crime scene
- Laments corrupt officials feeding off government resources
- Advocates for leadership with integrity and strong character
Former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, alleging it harbors more “Yahoo people” than those operating outside government.
Speaking as the keynote speaker at the fourth graduation ceremony of Nexford University, Obi lamented that Nigeria has become a full-blown crime scene, with corrupt officials depleting the nation’s resources.
“Don’t think when we talk about vices, it’s just Yahoo boys,” Obi said. “There are actually more Yahoo people in government than outside because we’ve turned the entire country into a crime scene—those in power are stealing, and those outside are stealing.”
The former LP flagbearer emphasized the urgent need for transformational leadership to rescue Nigeria from its current woes. He advocated for leaders with strong moral character and the resolve to act with integrity.
“Good governance isn’t rocket science, but it requires strong character—the ability to resist wrongdoing,” Obi added.
