The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed that restoration work is actively underway on the vandalized underground transmission line near Millennium Park in Abuja. The line, which was damaged on January 17, 2025, disrupted power supply, including affecting the Nigerian presidential seat.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs for TCN, emphasized that efforts are focused on replacing the damaged 132kV transmission line and reconnecting it to the network. This will enable the restoration of bulk power supply to the area.
TCN engineers, working with expert cable jointers, are putting in significant efforts to complete repairs promptly and restore normal power transmission. The company acknowledged the importance of maintaining a stable power supply for the capital city and its surrounding regions.
TCN remains dedicated to completing the restoration as swiftly as possible and expressed appreciation for the public’s patience during the process. The restoration of power through the line will be handed over to Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) for further distribution to customers.
