Fourteen people narrowly escaped death this afternoon in a ghastly accident on the Third Mainland Bridge, involving a Mazda commercial bus and a Toyota Yaris.
The crash, which occurred at Ilaje, inward Iyana-Oworonshoki, was triggered by reckless speeding by the driver of the Mazda bus (XN 997 KTU). The vehicle veered out of control and forcefully rammed into a moving Toyota Yaris (11150 DLA), causing a violent collision.
According to Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the severe impact resulted in multiple casualties, prompting an urgent response from LASTMA and the Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS).
Rescue teams swiftly evacuated 14 survivors from the mangled wreckage and rushed them to Gbagada General Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Authorities have once again urged motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and drive responsibly to prevent such life-threatening incidents.
