Nollywood veteran Patrick Doyle has taken a swipe at socialite Sophia Egbueje for flaunting her new Lamborghini despite the swirling controversy over her alleged affair with singer Burna Boy.
Social media went into a frenzy last week after leaked audio surfaced, where Sophia accused Burna Boy of reneging on his promise to buy her a Lamborghini after their reported liaison. Unbothered by the backlash, she showcased her brand-new luxury car online, boasting that she purchased it without the singer’s help.
Her public display of wealth drew sharp criticism from Doyle, who condemned her for celebrating affluence allegedly built on questionable means.
The actor also rebuked those who applauded and celebrated her, questioning society’s growing admiration for materialism over integrity.
“She boasted about her wristwatch’s worth and paraded a ₦600 million car,” Doyle wrote on social media. “Together, both items are valued between ₦650 million and ₦750 million. Some half-wits cheered her on as if we weren’t aware of the shameful source of her wealth.”
He further expressed concern that while Sophia basked in luxury, members of her extended family could be struggling. “The glorification of immorality has become a norm among dim-wits,” he lamented.
