  • Media Aide Calls Social Media Claims False, Misleading
  • Odu Reaffirms Commitment to Rivers State Governance
  • Urges Public to Disregard Malicious Speculations

The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Prof. Ngozi Odu, has dismissed widespread speculation suggesting she has resigned from office, labeling the claims as baseless and deliberately misleading.

The false reports, which gained traction on Facebook, insinuated that Odu had stepped down, sparking rumors of a rift within Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration.

However, in a strongly worded statement issued in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, her media aide, Owupele Benebo, debunked the claims, asserting that the deputy governor remains firmly in office. He described the reports as fabricated and urged the public to ignore them.

“The Office of the Deputy Governor of Rivers State categorically refutes the false and misleading reports alleging that Her Excellency, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, has resigned,” the statement read.

Benebo emphasized Odu’s unwavering dedication to her role, noting that she was duly elected alongside Governor Fubara to serve the people of Rivers State.

“As a distinguished public servant and academic, Prof. Odu remains committed to supporting the governor in delivering the dividends of democracy to Rivers residents. Her steadfast leadership and expertise continue to strengthen the administration,” the statement concluded.
