  • Reality Star’s Kidney, Liver Shut Down During Labour
  • Blames Negligence for Many Stillbirths
  • Sought Therapy to Heal from Trauma

Reality TV star and actress Bamike Olawunmi, widely known as Bambam, has opened up about her harrowing childbirth ordeal, revealing that she suffered multiple organ failures during labour.

Bambam and her husband, Teddy A, welcomed their first child, Zendaya, in 2020, nearly a year after tying the knot. However, her delivery was far from smooth. Speaking in a recent episode of the Me & My Girls podcast, she disclosed that her kidney failed, her liver collapsed, and her other vital organs began shutting down.

She attributed many stillbirths to medical negligence, stressing that delayed interventions often have dire consequences.

“A lot of stillbirths happen because of negligence—either the doctor isn’t competent, the nurse fails to act promptly, or the patient arrives at the hospital too late,” she stated.

Recounting her own terrifying ordeal, she said, “During my first labour, my kidney failed, my heart weakened, and my liver shut down—all because of childbirth. My daughter had detached from the placenta. If I had arrived a second later, she would have lost oxygen, and I would have had a stillbirth.”

Bambam admitted that the experience left her haunted by lingering “what ifs.”

“Every time I look at her, I wonder, ‘What if?’ Those thoughts tormented me for a long time. Even now, just remembering it makes me anxious. I had to seek therapy to help me shift from fear to gratitude,” she shared.
