A tragic road accident occurred yesterday in Magama Gumau Town, Bauchi State, when a DAF truck transporting white sand collided with a stationary truck that had broken down on the road. The crash resulted in a fire that engulfed both vehicles, tragically claiming the life of 23-year-old Usman Magaji and injuring two others.

Police officers from the Magama Gumau Divisional Headquarters, supported by other security agencies, responded swiftly to the emergency. They successfully extinguished the fire and rescued the victims from the wreckage.

The Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed that the injured were immediately transported to Toro General Hospital for treatment. Sadly, Magaji was declared dead by medical personnel upon arrival.

In response to the incident, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolari Aliyu, extended heartfelt condolences to the families affected. He also urged drivers to strictly adhere to road safety regulations, particularly emphasizing the importance of placing a warning triangle at least 45 meters behind any broken-down vehicle to alert approaching traffic.

Additionally, CP Aliyu directed the Central Motor Traffic Department (MTD) to commence a discreet investigation into the cause of the collision.
