-FCT Minister’s Aide Blasts Ex-Presidential Adviser Over Criticism
–Says Ojudu Has No Moral Ground to Question Wike’s Political Style
Senior Special Adviser on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, has launched a scathing attack on former presidential aide, Babafemi Ojudu, over recent comments against his principal, Nyesom Wike.
Olayinka, in a sharply worded statement on Monday, described Wike as a more successful and grounded politician than Ojudu, whom he accused of deceiving former President Olusegun Obasanjo into orchestrating an unconstitutional removal of a sitting governor in Ekiti State.
His reaction followed remarks by Ojudu, who had mocked Wike for “acting as if power is eternal and position confers immortality.”
Olayinka, firing back, said:
“Funny that someone like Femi Ojudu, who led a political coup in Ekiti, is now sermonising about the fleeting nature of power. Didn’t he know power wasn’t eternal when he plunged Ekiti into a state of emergency?”
Ojudu, a former Special Adviser on Political Matters to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, had recently confessed to masterminding the impeachment of ex-Ekiti governor Ayodele Fayose with the help of President Obasanjo.
Olayinka didn’t hold back, accusing Ojudu of hypocrisy and failed political judgment.
“Egbon Ojudu is pained, no doubt, but shouldn’t he focus his frustrations on the wrong political calculations he made ahead of the 2023 elections?” he queried.
He further mocked Ojudu’s 2022 vow to quit politics and go into farming after his preferred presidential candidate failed to clinch the APC ticket.
“Is he now in the farm cultivating cocoyam and ewedu as promised?” Olayinka asked sarcastically.
The FCT Minister’s aide emphasized that unlike Ojudu, Wike has remained politically relevant, having successfully governed Rivers State and currently serving at the federal level.
“Wike is not like Ojudu, whose only major political legacy is deceiving Obasanjo to illegally remove a democratically elected governor,” he said.
The political spat adds another layer to the ongoing verbal wars surrounding Nigeria’s evolving power dynamics ahead of future elections.
