The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has fully restored bulk electricity supply to all six states in Nigeria’s North-East following the successful energisation of the new Bauchi 330/132kV Transmission Substation.
This was confirmed in a statement on Sunday by TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, who noted that the reconnection was completed at 16:45 hours on June 19.
According to Mbah, power was restored after the company completed the integration of the Jos-Bauchi-Gombe 330kV and 132kV transmission lines to the national grid. The lines had been temporarily switched off to allow for the safe connection of the newly completed substation.
“The lines were initially switched off to enable TCN energise the new Bauchi Substation, one of the biggest substations in the region, to the grid,” she stated.
With the reconnection completed, bulk power has been restored to the Jos and Yola Electricity Distribution Companies, which serve Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Damaturu, Adamawa, and Taraba States.
TCN also disclosed that the energisation of the new substation would significantly enhance the stability, reliability, and redundancy of power supply in the region. It further improves emergency response during grid disturbances by offering diversified transmission routes.
“This connection of the new substation to the national grid has enhanced power reliability, diversified transmission routes, and improved emergency response capabilities in the Northeastern region,” the statement read.
The company expressed appreciation to affected residents and electricity consumers for their patience and support during the outage period.
