CAF executive endorses former NFF boss for key advisory role
Pinnick returns to continental football leadership after FIFA council exit
Amaju Pinnick, the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has been appointed as the special adviser to the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe.
The appointment, ratified by CAF’s executive committee on Saturday, marks a significant return to continental football politics for the 54-year-old Nigerian administrator.
With this new role, Pinnick is now eligible to attend CAF’s executive meetings, positioning him once again at the heart of decision-making in African football.
Pinnick’s appointment comes shortly after he lost his seat on the FIFA executive council, where he served with distinction. He was the third Nigerian to be elected into the global football body’s highest decision-making organ, after Oyo Orok Oyo and Amos Adamu.
CAF’s decision to appoint Pinnick is seen as a strong endorsement of his enduring contributions to football development across Africa. His experience, network, and knowledge of the game are expected to play a key role in supporting President Motsepe’s reform and growth agenda for African football.
