Manchester United have intensified efforts to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, following confirmation that the player has expressed his desire to leave for Old Trafford. Football transfer insider, Fabrizio Romano, disclosed over the weekend that United are still in “active talks” with Brentford and are hopeful of reaching a breakthrough by the end of the week.
Mbeumo, who has already informed Brentford of his intent to join United, is reportedly ignoring overtures from other clubs. His potential arrival is seen as a response to the likely departure of Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho this summer.
Despite two earlier bids from Manchester United being rejected, with Brentford demanding a £65 million fee, Romano maintained that discussions remain ongoing.
“The player maintains his word; he wants to join Man United, not entertaining talks with other clubs,” Romano said.
In a separate update, the transfer expert provided insight into the future of United’s goalkeeper, André Onana. According to him, the Cameroonian shot-stopper is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks due to injury but remains fully committed to staying at Manchester United.
“There are no official bids on the table so far, despite early interest from Saudi in May,” Romano clarified.
Meanwhile, Croatian midfield legend Luka Modric is edging closer to a move to AC Milan. Romano revealed that Modric’s legal team has approved a one-year contract with the Serie A giants. A medical has been scheduled in Milan on Monday to finalize the free transfer.
“Tests due to take place on Monday in Milano,” Romano stated.
The summer transfer window is heating up with United poised to reshape its attacking line, while Modric prepares to write a new chapter in his storied career.
