Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, better known as Terry G, has accused American music magazine Billboard of “robbing” him after his hit tracks were excluded from its recently unveiled Top 50 Best Afrobeats Songs of All Time list.
Billboard ranked 2Face Idibia’s timeless classic African Queen at number one, while Timaya’s Dem Mama, Weird MC’s Ijoya, and Olu Maintain’s Yahooze also secured spots on the chart.
But Terry G’s crowd-shaking anthems — Akpako Master, Free Madness, and Run Mad — were nowhere to be found. Reacting to a post by music monitoring platform Chart Data, which announced African Queen as number one, the eccentric singer vented on social media with a short but fiery post: “TERRY G robbed.”
His outburst has since triggered mixed reactions. While some fans backed his claim and insisted that his songs defined an era of street anthems, others countered that his catalog could not rival African Queen for the top spot.
