Governor Dauda Lawal has declared that insecurity in Zamfara State would end within two months if he were granted full control of security agencies.
In a viral video, the governor revealed he knows the exact locations of key bandit leaders in the state, claiming he could pinpoint them with just his mobile phone.
“I swear to Almighty Allah, wherever a bandits’ leader is located within Zamfara State, I know it. With my mobile phone, I can show you where they are today. But we cannot do anything beyond our powers,” Lawal said.
He lamented that his lack of authority over security agencies hampers swift action, citing a recent case in Shinkafi Local Government where bandits struck but security operatives failed to respond without clearance from Abuja.
The governor, visibly emotional, said he often sheds tears for Zamfara residents, knowing the threats they face yet unable to command the forces needed to neutralize them.
“If I had the power to issue direct orders, banditry would be history in Zamfara within two months,” Lawal vowed.
