Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has urged all eligible residents to seize the opportunity of the ongoing Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR) to secure their voter cards and strengthen democracy in the state.
Dr. Michael Abuo, the governor’s aide and State Coordinator for the African Union Development Agency/New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD), delivered the governor’s message during an advocacy visit to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Calabar on Tuesday.
Abuo, who also coordinates the INEC-CVR Initiative in the state, pledged to intensify efforts to mobilize citizens for the exercise. He stressed that Governor Otu attaches great importance to the CVR, promising that “no stone will be left unturned” in boosting electoral value and participation in Cross River.
Responding, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Johnson S. Alalibo, assured the state government, political parties, and stakeholders of INEC’s commitment to provide technical support and maintain neutrality throughout the process.
Prince Abuo was accompanied by executive members of the Cross River State Political Network (CRISPON), including its Secretary, Mr. Eta Ekong.
