Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has presented a ₦535.6 billion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, outlining an ambitious spending plan he says will sustain growth and deepen development gains across the state.

Tagged the “Budget of Consolidation,” the proposal, according to Yahaya, is designed to strengthen the progress recorded under his administration, with a clear alignment to the Development Agenda for Gombe State (DEVAGOM).

Yahaya revealed that the budget earmarks ₦164.25 billion (30.66%) for recurrent expenditure and ₦371.44 billion (69.34%) for capital projects, a distribution he said reflects his government’s focus on infrastructure development, education, health, agriculture, and industrial expansion.

He emphasized that the 2026 spending plan seeks to harness Gombe’s vast economic potential and accelerate prosperity through policies anchored on sustainability, equity, and inclusive growth.

Reviewing the outgoing fiscal year, Yahaya recalled that the initial ₦369.9 billion budget for 2025 was revised upward to ₦451.6 billion following a supplementary appropriation. By September 2025, the state had already generated ₦336.48 billion in recurrent revenue, representing 126% of projections, a development that triggered the budget review.

The governor added that as of September 2025, budget performance stood at ₦219.03 billion, translating to 60.12% implementation, a level he described as a solid foundation for the 2026 fiscal plan.
