Security agencies have launched a major manhunt for the students abducted from St. Mary Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State.
Armed terrorists attacked the school around 2:00 a.m. on Friday, hauling away an unconfirmed number of students and staff. The invaders reportedly broke into the hostel before escaping with their captives.
The Niger State Police Command, through its spokesman SP W.A. Abiodun, confirmed the incident, noting that police tactical units, military components and other security agencies had immediately deployed to the area. Operatives are combing surrounding forests in what authorities describe as a coordinated rescue mission.
Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, assured residents that the Command remains committed to rescuing the victims unhurt. He urged the public to stay calm and provide credible information to support ongoing operations.
