Rivers United captain Temple Emekayi has assured supporters that the team will rise to the moment as they face Moroccan champions RS Berkane today in Uyo.
Finidi George’s men, still smarting from their defeat to Pyramids FC, will attempt to regain momentum when they host the defending CAF Confederation Cup winners at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. The fixture marks Rivers United’s first-ever appearance in the group stage—an additional layer of pressure as they confront one of Africa’s most formidable sides.
Emekayi stressed that securing maximum points is non-negotiable.
“Although we would have preferred to play before our home crowd in Port Harcourt, this situation is beyond us. We must make the best of it,” he said.
“It is incumbent on us, the players, to rise from the defeat in Cairo and fight for a positive result against RS Berkane. We will go in there and give our very best.”
