Osogbo — Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday secured the Accord Party’s governorship ticket as the party formally declared him its sole standard-bearer for the 2026 election.
The announcement came during the party’s governorship primary held in Osogbo, where about 150 accredited delegates participated. Osun Accord Party Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, confirmed Adeleke’s unopposed endorsement, noting that each of the state’s 30 local government areas presented five delegates.
Akande recalled that Adeleke defected to the Accord Party in November and was publicly unveiled on Tuesday, paving the way for Wednesday’s formal declaration. He stressed that the governor’s entry into the party followed weeks of consultations with stakeholders and political leaders.
Adeleke, while addressing party faithful at the Government House Banquet Hall on Tuesday, reaffirmed his readiness to seek re-election in 2026 under his new political platform.
With the official declaration, Adeleke is set to launch his re-election bid under the Accord Party as the political atmosphere ahead of 2026 intensifies.
