Okpebholo Fires New Edo Line CEO, Names Smart Aigbodion Acting MD

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has terminated the appointment of Ms Tinyan Otuomagie as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of New Edo Line Transport Services Limited, with immediate effect.

The decision was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday, January 15, 2026, in Benin City by the State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Uwuilekhue Saturday Idehen. The statement confirmed that the governor has approved the immediate replacement of Otuomagie to allow for a transition in the management of the state-owned transport company.

Following the sack, the General Manager, Maintenance, Mr Smart Aigbodion, has been appointed as Acting Managing Director and CEO of New Edo Line Transport Services Limited. He will oversee the affairs of the company pending the appointment of a substantive managing director.

The governor also directed that the sacked chief executive be redeployed to the Ministry of Information for other duties as may be assigned by the Edo State Government. The state government stressed that the directive takes immediate effect.
