Former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing persistent internal conflicts within the party. His resignation was communicated in a letter dated February 4 to the Chairman of Mbagber Council Ward in Logo Local Government Area.

In the letter, Suswam described the ongoing crisis in the PDP as “unending” and stated that stepping aside was “honorable and necessary” while wishing the party success if it resolves its long-standing issues.

Although Suswam did not disclose the next political platform he intends to join, sources link him to a coalition of opposition leaders reportedly preparing to use the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their platform for the upcoming elections.

Political analysts say Suswam’s departure reflects growing discontent among PDP members in Benue and could reshape the opposition landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
