Assistant Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has formally assumed duty as the 55th AIG in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.
The appointment, which takes effect from 9 February 2026, follows the redeployment of AIG Margaret Ochalla, who is currently attending a short-term professional training programme in the United States.
A Lagos State indigene, AIG Disu brings to the position over three decades of experience spanning operational policing, intelligence gathering, investigations, and strategic security leadership.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Lagos State University, multiple Master’s degrees in Public Administration, Criminology, Security and Legal Psychology, as well as an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Investigation.
AIG Disu joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and has since occupied several critical leadership positions across the country. His past assignments include Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos, Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, and AIG in charge of the Special Protection Unit (SPU).
His tenure at the Rapid Response Squad between 2015 and 2021 earned widespread national and regional recognition, particularly for strengthening urban crime control, intelligence-led policing, and operational efficiency.
Speaking shortly after assuming duty, AIG Disu expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for the trust placed in him.
“I am excited to be in Lagos,” he said. “I appreciate the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, for counting me worthy of this opportunity to serve in this capacity.”
He pledged a zero-tolerance stance on corruption, while promising to enhance the operational and investigative strength of the FCID Annex. He also called on stakeholders, sister security agencies, and members of the public to continue supporting the police in the fight against crime and the pursuit of justice.
