Suspected political thugs have torched a ward office of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ubima community, the hometown of former Rotimi Amaechi, in Rivers State.

A video circulating online captured residents condemning security personnel for allegedly failing to apprehend the attackers during the incident.

The arson reportedly erupted in the early hours of Friday in Ikwerre Local Government Area. The ADC ward office was said to store materials intended for the party’s local activities.

The attack unfolded just hours before Amaechi was scheduled to formally register with the party at the ward level.

As of the time of filing this report, Amaechi had arrived in Port Harcourt ahead of his official registration with the ADC.
